4 Essential Steps to Maintain Your Learning Tower and Enhance Its Longevity

4 Essential Steps to Maintain Your Learning Tower and Enhance Its Longevity - Little Treasures
  by Felix Seguin

A learning tower needs very little upkeep. Four simple habits keep it safe, stable, and beautiful for years: clean it gently, check the hardware, protect the wood, and use it on the right surface. Here is how to do each one.

1. Clean it gently and regularly

Wipe the tower with a damp cloth and a little mild soap whenever it needs it, then dry it with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive scrubbers, which can dull the natural wood finish over time. For sticky spots from snacks or crafts, a slightly damp cloth and gentle pressure is all you need. Letting water sit on the wood is the main thing to avoid, so dry any spills rather than leaving them to soak in.

2. Check and tighten the hardware

This is the most important habit for safety. Daily climbing and small bumps slowly loosen bolts and screws, so check them every few weeks and tighten any that have worked loose. A quick wiggle test tells you a lot: if the frame feels wobbly, a bolt has usually loosened. Keep the small tool that came with your tower, or a matching hex key, somewhere easy to reach so the check takes under a minute. If you ever lose a bolt, contact us for a replacement rather than leaving a fastener out.

3. Protect the wood

Solid wood lasts for years when you keep it away from prolonged moisture and direct heat. Avoid leaving the tower in a permanently damp spot or in long stretches of direct sun, both of which can affect the finish over time. If you want, an occasional wipe with a food-safe wood conditioner keeps the grain looking rich, though it is optional. Treat the wood the way you would a good cutting board and it will stay beautiful.

4. Use and store it on a flat surface

Always place the tower on a flat, level floor so it sits stable, and lift it to move it rather than dragging it, which protects both the feet and your floors. When it is not in use, store it somewhere dry and out of high-traffic paths so it does not get knocked. If your tower folds, fold it only when empty and store it flat against a wall.

A tower built to last

Every Little Treasures learning tower is made from solid wood with non-toxic finishes and tested to Canadian and North American safety standards, so a little routine care goes a long way. With these four habits, your tower stays safe and good-looking from the early toddler years through preschool.
